 DIY Autism Awareness Flip Flop

DIY Autism Awareness Flip Flops

Did you know that April is the month for Autism Awareness? Here is a great way so show your support! These Autism Awareness flip flops are so easy and inexpensive. You can make your own using just a few dollars worth of supplies, and the end result is a cute and colorful pair of flip flops perfect for outdoor play. Here is how you can make your own.

Supplies needed:
Yellow, blue, or red flip flops (Dollar Tree)
Assorted Puzzle pieces (Buy a puzzle at the dollar store or from the thrift store)
Foam paint brush
Red, teal, blue, and yellow craft paint
Epoxy glue (you need strong glue, craft or hot glue won’t work)

Directions:
1. Begin by painting the puzzle pieces. Lay them cardboard side up (not print side) and apply two coats of paint to each. Use the various colors so you have several in each color. Allow the pieces to dry well.
2. Once your puzzle pieces are dry, you can begin gluing them to the top of the flip flops.  Just add a little epoxy on the back of each and press to the top of the flip flops until secure. Once again, you must use epoxy as regular glue won’t keep the pieces in place.
3. Continue adding puzzle pieces until you have a small cluster. 4 or 5 pieces will do.

Your Autism Awareness flip flops are now ready to be used! Just slip them on and start having some fun!
