Do you have a sensory seeking child or a child that you use sensory bins with? This Finding Dory Sensory Bin will be lots of fun and offer up the sensory input your child needs.
Finding Dory Sensory Bin
White cleaning bin or other plastic bin
Box or bag of rice (one pound or more)
Blue food coloring
Dory and Nemo figurines
Assorted sea shells
Purple craft paint
Please note that we found all of these items at our local Dollar Tree. You can find everything from the bin, to the rice, and even the crafting shells and Nemo figurines.
1. Begin by dying your rice. Take the uncooked rice and pour it into a mixing bowl. Add 5-7 drops of blue food coloring and start stirring. Stir for 7-10 minutes until the coloring has distributed and your rice takes on a blue hue. Granted some pieces will remain white, but the idea is for 90% coverage. Allow the rice to dry by laying it on a paper towel for an hour or until dry.
2. Once your rice is dry, add it to the bin or container of choice.
3. Complete the special purple shell (Dory’s mother’s favorite!) by adding a coat of purple craft paint to the shell until covered. Set aside to dry.
4. Assemble the shells and figurines in the rice. You can make paths with the shells just like you saw in the movies, ideal for helping Dory find her way home.
Your Finding Dory sensory bin is now ready to be enjoyed for hours of fun.
