A flower garden sensory bin is a great way to allow little hands to explore and practice those essential fine motor skills. It’ll also help kids feel like they are being included while you are planting your gardens and flower beds.

You can make a flower garden themed sensory bin just like the one you see here, and it only takes a few minutes and a few bucks.

Once you have created your flower garden box, kids will love diving in and enjoying the manipulatives inside. Here is how you can get started making your own.

Assorted spoons

Assorted plastic eggs
Seed packets
Assorted Cupcake Wrappers

I found almost everything we used here at our local Dollar Tree dollar store. I would totally purchase organic potting soil since little hands will be playing in the dirt. I already had some left over organic soil so I didn’t need to purchase it.

The plastic totes such as the one you see here are perfect, as they are a generous size and have a lid! That way, when playtime is over you can simply slide the lid on and save the activity for later.

Directions:
1. Begin by filling the tub ¾ of the way full of potting soil. Don’t overfill so you leave room for all of the items inside.

2. Add the silk flowers, plastic eggs, and seed packets. Kids will love “planting” their own little garden and hiding the eggs in the soil.

3. Don’t forget other items for kids to use such as cups, scoops, and a small shovel. They will love using these items to scoop, measure, dig, and more.

When you are done remove the objects and store them in a plastic bag. You can then put the lid back on the box for easy and clean storage.

Run to Dollar Tree and see what they have that will be a fun addition to your sensory box. I’ve added links to the supplies above so that you can easily order off of Amazon.

Give this easy and cheap flower garden sensory box for kids a try. It is a great way to get their hands dirty while learning at the same time!
