I have been compensated by Johnson's® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.
Johnsons has always been one of my favorite baby products, when Mini was a baby I especially loved using their gentle baby bar on her sensitive skin. The added moisturizer really helped keep her skin soft and rash free, and oh that delicious fresh clean baby smell! I just loved snuggling up to that after bath sweet baby! While it is perfect for bath time I also discovered it has other great uses, like as the main ingredient in my Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent. Gentle on baby skin, baby clothes, and guess what? We still use this recipe to wash Mini’s clothes in and protect her sensitive skin now. If this sounds like the kind of detergent you need for you little (or not so little) one’s skin read on and found out how I make it! I grabbed a Johnson's Baby Bar in the baby section of Walmart, right next to the diapers!
Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent
You will need:
1 bar Johnson’s Baby Bar
1 ½ cups A&H Super Washing Soda
2 gallons of water
10 drops lavender essential oil
Grate the entire Johnson’s Baby bar finely, you can just use your kitchen grater to do this.
In a large pot over medium-high heat combine water, grated soap, and washing soda.
Stir frequently until soap is melted and you have a thick soupy mixture.
Remove from heat and allow to cool, stir in lavender essential oil.
Once completely cooled stir soap mixture again well until it has gelled and thickened more, transfer contents to smaller containers for easier dispensing, you can upcycle empty laundry detergent bottles that have been well rinsed, use mason jars, or other sturdy containers.
Add ½ cup to your washer, shaking container before each use.
