How to Grow a Pineapple
I have a confession! I love, love, love fresh pineapple. I never tried fresh pineapple until I became an adult (sad but true) but I adore it now. I got to thinking about growing carrot tops one day and thought I bet you can grow pineapple, sure enough you can!
Start with a good Pineapple! Does not matter what the top looks like. You will use the top but you will also want to eat the pineapple so make sure it's good! Start by twisting the top off of it. Don't worry you won't break it. Just give it a few good twists and it will pop right off!
The next step is to start pealing down the leaves. As you peal them down you will start to see little roots. I hope you can see them out in the picture. Peal until you do not see any more roots. I pealed about an inch up my steam before I ran out of roots. Gently loosen the roots, they will be stuck to the steam. Once you have pealed and loosened you are ready for the next step.
You've figured out how to grow a Pineapple
Next you want a small to medium pot and some potting soil. Dig a hole in the soil and plant your Pineapple Stem and add your water. Now you have planted your very own Pineapple and you are ready for the final step.
Finally you can enjoy the sweet rewards of your Pineapple. This is what life is all about! You just gotta love it!
Here's my plant about a week out. Part of your plant will turn brown and die, that's ok it's supposed to do that. If you look real close right in the middle you will see I have a new stem popping up. Wonder how long it will take for my new Pineapple to grow?
