As my daughter, Mini, gets older, I want to ensure she’s equipped with what she needs to live an independent life. Homeschooling is something that has brought out the best in her. The tools I’m able to give her and the knowledge she’s able to obtain is remarkable. This year, I wanted to challenge her fine motor skills. Mini has always wanted to love cursive, she’s always complaining about her handwriting but really hates writing. We’ve done cursive over the years, but this school year, I really wanted to help her master cursive so I was thrilled to receive the CursiveLogic Quick-Start Pack and The Art of Cursive from CursiveLogic!
Mini has Autism, so any time I can present her with a curriculum that is multi sensory I jump at the chance. Let me emphasize that she has learned cursive but I really wanted her to focus on improving her cursive skills. Neither one of us was really happy with her handwriting but we didn’t really like “practicing” either.
CursiveLogic uses a unique 5-step method of teaching cursive that focuses on structure. CursiveLogic is a logical way to teach and learn cursive writing. It’s truly a great way to appeal to those who have different learning styles. Because CursiveLogic uses movement, logic, catch phrases and real words, and color to teach each lesson, Mini really didn’t mind doing her lessons. The multi sensory approach is what really helped us the most. CursiveLogic did a fantastic job of keeping her involved without being overwhelmed. That made it fun for her.
We were sent the Quick-Start Pack for review. The Pack includes a webinar and the newly redesigned workbook. The webinar is a step-by-step instructional video that explains the whole process. The webinar will equip you with everything you need to use CursiveLogic to teach your child’s cursive. It’ll also show you a lot of tips and tricks that will make it easier. The workbook has practice pages, dry erase pages for practice, and inspirational quotes for even more practice.
We were also sent The ART of Cursive Adult coloring book. The ART of Cursive has 4 short lesson followed by 27 beautiful pictures. The lessons cover 2 pages and follow the same letter string lessons as does the workbook. While it is geared toward the adult learner, we just used it as relaxing learning reinforcements. There was some push back a few days from Mini as she’s not big on busy work. There needs to be a purpose to her learning whatever we are working on. Thankfully there were only a couple of days that she didn’t feel like it.
Cursivelogic was designed for special needs learners and does a great job of covering all learning methods. If your current cursive method is causing tears and hair pulling I highly recommend CursiveLogic for you and your child.
