How to Make sure your child is learning

Making sure my daughter learns enough, at the end of the day, is always on my mind. You don’t need to keep wondering if your child is learning enough though because there are steps you can take. Mini is a special learner, which means I need to ensure she’s learning enough because some days she doesn’t want to learn at all. Here is how I make sure my child is learning enough.

Go with my gut

Sounds weird, but I know when my daughter has learned enough and when she hasn’t. I let my intuition guide me. I look at her curriculum and see what she has done enough of and what she hasn’t. Sometimes “learning enough” is based on how much more my daughter can take mentally.

Ask questions
You can always tell if your child is learning by asking questions. I like to ask Mini comprehension questions. You can tell a lot by asking questions with your child. Going this route is a great way to determine if your kid has learned enough or not.

Do a little testing
You can make sure your child is learning enough by doing some testing. You can do a little testing at a time to see where they are academically. Testing isn’t easy for all kids, but it is a great way to see where a child is academically.

Add in extra lessons
One of my favorite ways to ensure Mini is learning enough is to add in extra lessons. If you aren’t sure your child is retaining the information, you can keep repeating lessons until they get it. Learning takes time, effort, and repetition.

Use online tools when possible
Another great way to make sure your child is learning enough is to use online tools. My favorite online tool to use is TestingMom.com.

You can watch a site tour by clicking 5 minute site tour of Testingmom.com

This is an online educational program that is designed by parents to help kids ages pre-k through 8th grade develop a love for learning. Not all students learn the same way, which is why this service  is so awesome.

Kids can play learning games, get challenged through activities, and even get in on prep materials.
Parents can even customize learning by putting together practice questions for state standards, common core, and even IQ tests. Doing something like this can help any parent ensure their child is learning enough.

You can get started with TestingMom.com by downloading 100 Free Skill Building Practice Questions for Pre-K to 8th Graders.

This seems like a good place for my child. They need to have a few moms review it too.
