My mother in law gifted me a pressure cooker last year for my birthday because I had been wanting one for canning, and I had the best of intentions of using it right away but it sat in my pantry still in the box until just a couple weeks ago.  I have to tell you that I have a new favorite toy… THIS is the model she bought me and I don't know how I lived so long without it because it now comes out several times a week. I have canned squash, cherries, peas, carrots, and apples (recipes coming soon to the blog) and just used it to make an amazing beef stew IN JUST 30 MINUTES! Seriously, beef stew normally takes about 4-6 hours and you have to add your veggies in late or they are mush but not with this bad boy, I just popped everything in together, tightened down the lid and 30 minutes later dinner was ready to go!

Pressure Cooker Beef Stew Recipe

IMHO this is a must have kitchen appliance, it will take the place of your slow cooker, rice cooker, pressure canner, and more. I can't wait to bring you more recipes with it.

1 1/2 lbs. beef stew chunks

1 cup beef broth

4-5 medium russet potatoes

1 medium onion

1 tsp. ground black pepper

1 tsp.coarse sea salt

1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic

1 T. vegetable oil

So this particular model has a button for browning on it and saved me from dirtying another pan. Add 1 T. of oil to inner pot, turn on brown setting and wait until hot then add stew meat, pepper, salt, and garlic. Cook for 1 minute, stir cook another 1-2 minutes to brown.

Add potatoes, onions,  and carrots to the pot, be sure lid is secure and steam release valve is on lock.

Turn it on the “Stew” cycle (yes there is a button specifically for stew) this is a 30 minute cycle.  Pay a couple bills, wash a couple dishes, or sit and veg while your dinner cooks.  It takes 5-10 minutes for pressure to build in the cooker then the 30 minute countdown begins.

Release pressure and remove lid, dinner is ready…in one pot, in less than 30 minutes and everything is tender and tasty.

    1. Hi Candy!❤️ Thank you so much for stopping by. It took me awhile to start using mine but once I did, it was instant love!

  1. looks good but i like a rich beefy gravy in my stew. here is the recipe i came up with for a quick weekday dinner.

    Beef Stew
few TBS olive oil in cooker
stew meat coated in flour/salt/pepper and browned in cooker on chicken/meat setting

    I pkt beef stew seasoning
    1 pkt brown gravy mix
1 TBS or so of tomato paste
2TBS au jus mix this is optional. i just like the richer beefy flavor it gives.

    4 cups water

close cover make sure the pressure valve is closed and then push stew button
this recipe is even better the next day.
