I am obsessed with the rustic farmhouse style- I love buffalo check, any plaid, farm animals, etc… To add a personalized touch to my ornaments we try to make a batch of handmade every year. This year I thought what could be more rustic than mason jar‘s? So we made rustic diy farmhouse ornaments with mason jar rings and a few craft items we had on hand. Be sure to check out last year’s Rustic Mason Jar Lid Ornaments
Rustic DIY Farmhouse Ornaments
Here is what you need:
regular or wide mouthed mason jar rings
glue gun/glue sticks
optional-farmhouse themed stickers
Lay the mason jar ring on top of your paper and trace through the top hole so that the diameter of your paper is the same as the inside of your mason jar ring. Repeat it with a piece of card stock for every ornament you are making- I do this because generally you can’t find patterned card stock and the card stock is much sturdier base for your ornament.
If you want to add additional stickers to add the year, family names, etc… go ahead and add them now to your patterned paper circles. To give them a rustic farmhouse style think pickup trucks, wildlife silhouettes, plaid, buffalo checks, farm animals and items. I grabbed all my stickers and other items at Hobby Lobby.
Now glue your patterned paper to the inside of the mason jar ring- hot glue is the quickest drying so I prefer to use that. To make your hanger you can do it in one of two ways- Tie onto ornament prior to putting in pattern paper, this works well with something thin like twine. Or you can cut a small piece of ribbon, tie it into a bow and hot glue to the top as I did with the buffalo check, then slip a hook through it to hang.
