Every self-respecting Smurfs fan knows that Smurfberries are a very important part of their diet. I grew up on the Smurfs, Gargamel, and of course, Azrael the cat on my Saturday morning cartoons and I have enjoyed every movie they have put out since, even as an adult. I was especially excited about watching the newest one with Mini – Smurfs- The Lost Village because I heard it was all about girl power. The perfect way to celebrate the new movie was with a Smurfy snack so we settled on –Smurfberry Ice Cream in a Bag and it came out so delicious we just had to share it with you!
You will need:
1 cup half and half
2 T. blue raspberry jello
1 T. granulated sugar
rock or coarse sea salt
gallon freezer bag
quart freezer bag
Fill a gallon freezer bag about halfway full with ice, toss in a palmful of rock salt ( I have also used coarse sea salt successfully when I have no rock salt on hand).
Next open your quart sized bag and pour in half and half, sugar, and jello-be sure to seal it well. If you would like to make your ice cream a little healthier opt for sugar free jello and don't add granulated sugar.
Place quart bag down inside your gallon bag surrounded by ice.
Close up your gallon bag of ice and shake vigorously for about 5-7 minutes until your cream is thickened and resembles soft serve ice cream. If you like yours a little firmer you can place the smaller bag of ice cream in the freezer for an hour or two.
Scoop out of the bag into a fun container and enjoy!
